This week’s Throwback Thursday selection is Peter Gizzi’s “Still Life with Automobile,” from In Defense of Nothing: Selected Poems 1987-2011 (2014).   .   . PETER GIZZI is the author of Threshold Songs, The Outernationale, Some Values of Landscape and Weather, Artificial Heart, Periplum, and In Defense of Nothing. He teaches at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

The DAC’s spring 2014 show, Oral Fixations: Julia Randall, opens today at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. Opening Reception: Thursday August 28, 5pm-7pm Artist Talk: Thursday September 18, 6pm For more information visit the Handwerker Gallery website.    

The Administrators and Faculty of Color Alliance (AFCA) hosted a Students of Color Reception Aug. 28 in Usdan University Center. The reception allowed new students who identify themselves as a “student of color” to meet fellow students, faculty, staff and administrators. The group gathered for lunch and a brief program led by Antonio Farias, vice president for equity and inclusion.

Wesleyan’s Class of 2018 gathered for a group photo Aug. 27. On Arrival Day, Wesleyan welcomed 757 new students to campus. 

How did you decorate your dorm? The Class of 2018 arrived, unloaded, unpacked and set-up their home-away-from-home on Aug. 27.
