Many of us are now back on campus and most of us will be here within the next day, so while travel to and from Wesleyan is fresh on everybody’s mind, I wanted to take a moment to remind you about a transportation option that has been available to Wes students for the past few years, as well as let you all know about two exciting new options that will be offered this semester.
For the past few years ZipCars have been available for students to use right in front of Albritton. Using a Zipcar is like owning your own car on campus, but without having to worry about parking, paying for gas, and insurance coverage. The company takes care of all of this for you. Do your weekly grocery shopping, go to the movies, or take a road trip to visit your friend without a single worry.
If you’re 18 years or older and have the money, you can sign up for ZipCar at zipcar.com/wesleyan. It’s $35 for a yearly membership and driving is $8/hour or $66/day (remember gas is included). PLUS, in the first month of your membership you’ll get 4-5 hours of free driving!
Also, you may remember that we sent out a survey last semester asking about two new shuttle services and whether or not people would use them. Well, we got really good feedback and the Transportation Department has decided to add these shuttles to their already existing shuttles on a pilot basis this semester.
On Thursdays, a $10 shuttle will run to New Haven, leaving at 6pm. For this trial period, it will only run on February 2, 9, 16, 23, and March 1.
On Sundays, a $10 shuttle will do a pickup from the Meriden train station at 3:12pm and return to Usdan. It will start February 5, 12, 19, 26, and th last shuttle will run on March 4.
Looking forward to a great semester and let me know if you have any questions,
WSA Transportation Committee Chair
