Juliet Schor ’75, a professor of sociology at Boston College, is to deliver the endnote speech at The New Economy Summit at Boone, N.C. In the video below Schor scrutinizes what she calls “the new consumerism:”

The purpose of The New Economy Summit is to explore local efforts and initiatives being made to transition to a just and sustainable economy.
The Summit will facilitate networking opportunities between students, business owners, and local non-profit organizations through workshops, panel discussions, and information exchange. The Summit is designed to maximize collaboration between all members of the High Country community.
On Apr. 22, Professor Schor will be on campus to deliver a talk called “Treading Lightly on the Earth”, in celebration of Earth Day 2013. More information…
