Photocrati Fund 5k photojournalism grant
Jan. 31, 2010 by Adrian Cooke
Just read about an opportunity for photographers that might be of interest. A new grant has been established to promote photo journalism about humanitarian, environmental and social justice issues.
From Wired, “Get 5k for your documentary photo project:”
As Erick Danzer was slogging through Indonesia covering illegal logging operations, an idea came to him. He would create a $5,000, one-year grant, now called the Photocrati Fund, to facilitate a humanitarian or environmental project in an era when news agencies are scaling back…
And from the Photocrati site, “What is the Photocrati Fund?”
The Photocrati Fund offers $5000 grants to non-professional photographers to undertake important humanitarian and environmental photography projects. Our goal is to identify outstanding, up-and-coming photographers and give them the resources necessary to pursue projects that will have a tangible and positive effect on the world.
The submission deadline for the 2010 grant is March 15.
